SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY — PET ADOPTION
Americans have continued a humanization of pets over the past several decades in many instances from "worker" roles on farms and in rural areas to full–blown personal companions and important family members. It was not long ago that pets lived primarily outside and now that same pet has gradually migrated inside‚ and in some cases‚ to even sharing the bed with may of us. Most of Shure Pets Pet Consultants all have at least one thing in common…each person has pet companions and thinks of them as "part of the family."
Shure Pets encourages people interested in adding a new pet to their family either for the first time or expanding the number of animals in an existing pet group to consider "pet adoption" from a local human society‚ animal control‚ SPSCA‚ or reputable shelter or rescue. Nearly four million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized each year due to pet over population. Of these waiting for adoption‚ nearly 30% are perfectly healthy pure bred animals. The rest are of course lovable‚ wonderful‚ and adorable mixed breed pets just waiting to be your new best friend! Available‚ adoptable animals now can be easily searched online or through other community–based resources‚ which can include many different animals as well besides just dogs and cats.
Before selecting any pet‚ please do your research. Assess your household constraints‚ personal lifestyle‚ budget and match the pet accordingly. Pet ownership can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience bringing happiness to you and your animal companion for many years. Take your time‚ be thoughtful‚ and make the right decision‚ and please consider pet adoption as a first choice.
At Shure Pets we actively support local pet adoption programs through a fun and unique fundraising program ideal for all size pet shelters and rescue operations. Find out more by clicking the Fundraising tab on the website.
